Where can I rent a car in Rusutsu?
Rusutsu Rental Car is a self-service car rental inside Rusutsu Resort (Rusutsu Hills). Book online, unlock the keybox with a QR code and drive off — no rental counter. Every car is a 4WD van with studless snow tires and insurance included, available from just 6 hours. Pick-up is at 659-3 Izumikawa, Rusutsu Village, a short walk from Rusutsu Resort Hotel & Convention.
Do I need an International Driving Permit?
Yes — unless you hold a Japanese driver's license, you need an International Driving Permit (1949 Geneva Convention) carried together with your home-country license.
How long can I rent for?
Rentals are in 6-hour blocks starting at 6:00 or 12:00. For different hours, book multiple blocks.
Is the car ready for snow?
Yes. All cars are 4WD with studless snow tires as standard. Insurance is included in the price.
How do I pay?
Credit card only, online at the time of booking. No cash needed on site.
What about fuel?
On the standard plan, return the car with a full tank. For rentals between 18:00 and 6:00, choose the fuel-included plan since local gas stations are closed at night.
What if something goes wrong?

Can I drop the car off one-way at a different location?
No — this is a round-trip rental. Please return the car to the same pickup point (the parking area in Rusutsu Hills). Because pickup and return use an unmanned keybox, a one-way drop-off at another location is not available.
